ATV crash with injuries
On Sunday, May 18, at 8:27 p.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported ATV crash, with injured riders. The crash occurred on the ATV trail southeast of Elephant Lake. Elephant Lake is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Orr.

Voyageurs National Park announces summer hours of operation for visitor centers
Voyageurs National Park staff have announced the summer hours of operation for the park’s four visitor centers: Rainy Lake, Kabetogama Lake, Ash River and, for the first time, the newly- opened Crane Lake Visitor Center.
Honor Guard Ceremony to be held at the Bearville Cemetery

New Book LOCAL AUTHOR
There is new book out titled “Life Over Easy” written by local author Leo Wilenius. Leo is a contributor to the Cook News-Herald and had this to say about his book. “ Life Over Easy is a collection of short stories as were my two books prior. The stories are centered in the Northland with chapters on the outdoors, people, childhood, life events, commentaries and thoughts from all over. I try to make it a fun read.”
Summer volunteers needed to feed local children
Volunteers are needed region-wide in order for United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN)’s free summer lunch program, Meet Up and Chow Down, to once again provide free summer lunches to all children ages 1-18 as planned starting June 9.

Well, I have to say that Mother Nature is playing games with us giving us high 80s and 90s, then a little muchneeded rain. We still need more, but the temps wet from hot to cold, including 30s and snow showers on Sunday. This is really becoming a little bit too much with temperatures from 90s to the 30s. Monday it was in the low 50s, but that wind was not helping. It felt like it was in the low 40s with that wind. They say the same thing for tomorrow: the wind will be back at it and we are back in the fire danger. We just can't catch a break.
Residents of Unorganized Township 63-17 vote to incorporate
Ballots have been counted and residents of Unorganized Township 63-17 have voted to incorporate into St. Louis County's newest township. Unorganized Township 63-17 is located in northern St. Louis County between Beatty and Greenwood townships.
