I have to say it was one hot and humid week. I really don’t enjoy being sweaty and hot, but I bet in February we will all say, “Please warm up.” So I have to say, enjoy the weather now. We all will wish for warmer weather this winter.
DNR invites people to share pheasant and turkey observations
Minnesotans are encouraged to report observations of ring-necked pheasants and wild turkeys in a citizen science effort by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. People can report any pheasant and turkeys they see in the wild now through Sunday, Aug. 31. Information from the reports will help the DNR monitor pheasant and turkey population trends, evaluate conservation efforts and make decisions about harvest regulations.
4-H Shines Bright at the St. Louis County Fair.
St. Louis County 4-H invites the community to celebrate youth development in action at the St. Louis County Fair from July 30–August 3, held at the fairgrounds in Chisholm. This year’s events are packed with engaging exhibits, hands-on learning, and two exciting highlights: the grand opening of the 4-H Clover Café and the always popular 4-H Market Livestock Ribbon Auction.
Bear hunters: Remember to buy license, check regulations
Bear hunters who entered the lottery for bear hunting licenses should watch their mail to see if they were selected for a license. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources mailed postcards to lottery winners during the first week of June.
Minnesota PUC issues key decisions on the carbon-free energy transition
St. Paul, Minn. – On Thursday, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) issued necessary decisions to guide electric utilities in achieving compliance with the state’s Carbon-Free Standard enacted in 2023. These decisions address critical aspects of the clean energy transition, including utility preparedness, compliance measurement, the continued use of Renewable Energy Credits, the accounting of net market purchases and the expedited deployment of carbon-free projects.

St. Paul, MN – Minnesota’s employment level, unemployment rate and labor force were stable in June, with metrics unchanged over the month, according to new data from the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
