Buyck Area News

I have to say it was one hot and humid week. I really don’t enjoy being sweaty and hot, but I bet in February we will all say, “Please warm up.” So I have to say, enjoy the weather now. We all will wish for warmer weather this winter.

This week at the VRT cribbage game the winner was Mike Rylko.

This past Saturday was the JosH Rutar Golf Tournament at Vermilion River Greens. The tournament was full up and lots of teams enjoyed a great day out on the course. They did say it was really hot out there, but it was a great day to play some golf. Here are the winners of the tournament: 1st Place: David Morrison Jr., Dave Villebrun Jr., John Villebrun and Lance Kingbird – Score 60; 2nd Place: Andrew Jordan, Aaron Bevington, Anthony Ahrens, Chris Ringsred – Score 64; 3rd Place: John Marconett, Aaron Olson, Rick Aune and Lee Marconett – Score 64. Consolation: Leonard Howard, Frank Bowstring Sr., Frank Bowstring Jr. and Brad Bowstring. Longest Putt: Matt Rutchasky Team; Closest to the Pin: Matt Zup; Closest to the Line: Matt Rutchasky Team. This tournament supports a scholarship to a North Woods School graduate of their choice. They have had this tournament for 19 years and are still going strong. They had lots of donations that were raffled off, which were greatly appreciated for all the support.

This coming weekend will be the Buyck Open at Vermilion River Greens. If you would like any information, just call the clubhouse, which is the VRT: (218) 993-2246. It’s a 3-Person Scramble. Sign up soon.

On Friday, Mary Hoffman and I went to the Blueberry Festival in Ely. We had never been there before and it was pretty darn nice. There was lots to look at and if you wanted to enjoy some great food truck foods that was the place to treat yourself. Lots of blueberry desserts to try out also. Yum!! It’s a must try if you haven’t done this before.

That will be it for this week. If you need anything in the news, please give me a call and I will get it in the paper for you. Keep smiling till next week.
