Notes from all over

By Guy Albertson

We are six months into President Trump’s second term. The border is secured for the first time in four years. Iran’s nuclear aspirations are gone. It appears that the Israel and Gaza war is over. The 2017 tax cuts are extended, along with one of the largest tax cuts for the middle class ever. No more taxes on tips and limits on overtime taxes. The military is seeing a resurgence – strong military provides safety for a nation.

While some governors in some states still want to see men dress as women, and compete with women, this has been dramatically reduced. The universities are starting to be held accountable for what they are teaching our young people.

We are on the verge of signing historic trade deals to hold other countries accountable for what they charge businesses in the United States. NATO now has all members contributing, not just the United States.

Men dressing as women and competing with them has been eliminated in most states – why is this a debate? Inflation is down. Jobless claims down.

California is a mess – overtaxed, no planning for fires (they occur every year), riots, and they still have men competing with women. They are now asking for you to pay for the cleanup of the “peaceful riots.” If you want your tax dollars spent on cleaning them up, write your congress person, but realize they will have another crisis as they continue to mismanage the state. I was in San Francisco recently. What a shame. It used to be one of the most beautiful cities in America. Then I was in Los Angeles. Something about seeing a guy jump out of his tent and then run down the street towards me in his underwear was concerning. I didn’t know what to do, and fortunately he veered off just before he ran into me.

As Minnesotans we have a budget issue, but at least illegals were given free health care, driver’s licenses, and housing. And we got to pay for it.

I’m confused. The Democrats lost and they lost big on a couple of key issues: Border Security and Woke attitudes. I don’t understand why they haven’t sat back and said we need to change. Their only message seems to be that Trump is bad – but what they haven’t realized is he is doing what the people who voted for him wanted him to do. By the way, if you look at his policies, he appears to be more liberal than conservative. They are taking care of the middle class and many of the “billionaires” are now Democrat supporters.

I think Democrats are going to have to move closer to the center if they want to compete in future elections. I supported Biden when he ran because I thought he was going to be a centrist bipartisan president. I argued with my father over it. We each voted our own ways. He was correct, I was wrong – hate when that happens.

I spent the last few days in Amsterdam. I took a cruise on the canals, and then sat at a table overlooking the canals for a two-hour lunch, and it was very relaxing. I then flew to Mallorca, a small island in the Mediterranean off the coast of Spain. It was beautiful. Every day I had a massage on the beach for $10. I ate Tapas and Paella, and dinner for two was under $50. Friendly people in both areas, and it was a very relaxing vacation. However, the vacation I’m most excited for – camping in the BWCA in August. Hard to beat the lakes in Northern Minnesota.
