Crosby Fire 70% contained as of Oct. 13
According to MNICS (Minnesota Incident Command System), the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park fire was 70% contained on Oct. 13. The fire was started by lightning on Oct. 8.
On Monday, firefighters continued making progress on the containment line and mopping up around the fire. Precipitation overnight helped firefighting efforts to hold fire in place at 300 acres. Minnesota DNR firefighters will be improving and checking the containment line and mopping up hot spots with assistance from three Conservation Corps of Minnesota Iowa (CCMI) crew.
A reminder: Don’t fly a drone anywhere near the wildfire. Firefighting aircraft are available to the Crosby fire and will be used as necessary. If drones are detected, all use of firefighting aircraft will stop.
Closures: A portion of the Superior Hiking Trail within the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park remains temporarily closed due to the Crosby fire. The trail is closed between Caribou Falls State Wayside Rest along Minnesota State Highway 61 to the County Road 7 (Cramer Road) access points. The state park remains open.
