County launches webpage tracking federal government shutdown impacts; highlighting resources for help

St. Louis County has launched a new webpage, making it easier for residents to track the latest impacts to services they rely on during the federal government shutdown, and find resources to help.

Currently, the webpage offers updates on the following benefits programs that St. Louis County administers: the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), MN Family Investment Program (MFIP), and Women, Infants & Children (WIC). These programs, which help individuals and families with financial challenges access healthy food and other resources, rely on federal dollars funneled through the state of Minnesota. In some cases, funding for November is uncertain as the shutdown continues.

With that uncertainty, St. Louis County leaders recognize how important it is to connect residents with other ways to access healthy foods in their neighborhoods. The webpage includes links to local food shelves and meal services, the Minnesota Food HelpLine, and more.

Residents are encouraged to visit the webpage for the latest information throughout the federal government shutdown, which began on Oct. 1. It will be updated as the shutdown continues.
