First Baptist Church of Cook celebrates Fall Family Festival

By Ellen Shuster

September 27 – With temperatures above average, it was a perfect day for First Baptist’s fifth annual Fall Family Festival. Members, family, friends, and community gathered at the open event at Kit and Char Olson’s farm. As each vehicle arrived, a new dish was added to the smorgasbord. The tables were filled and everyone enjoyed a breakfast of eggs, sausages, breads, cakes, donuts, and more. Games were set around the yard and the air was filled with exuberant conversations and laughter.

As the hayride was announced, kids and parents alike flocked to join the fun. Field and forest scenes passed by as everyone enjoyed the warm wind on their faces. The children got an extra surprise as the tractor pulled them to a stop at a deer stand where a friendly pumpkin was waiting to distribute candy. Near the end of the ride, some excitement was had as someone’s phone was dropped accidentally. After retrieving it, they raced back to the wagon and were able to jump back on to the cheers and delight of all!

Upon returning to the farm, a tug-of-war challenge was issued and many ran down to answer the call.

As the event wound down, those leaving first could still look back and see children flying kites and adults laughing with each other.

Kit and Char were incredible hosts and many people are already looking forward to next year.
