Lady Grizzlies sweep Mesabi East 3-0

September 4 – Tonight as the North Woods Grizzlies faced the Mesabi East Giants, the 7th grade team got their first home game win with a score of 2-1 having won the first and third sets. The 8th grade also took home a victory two sets to none.

The Giants had the upper hand in the JV game and took the first two sets for a Grizzlies’ loss. It was answered by the Grizzlies Varsity team with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-11) win. It was a clean first set with few errors and great timing. After such a great opening performance, the Grizzlies were caught on their heels in the second set and found themselves trailing as the Giants got their offense into a rhythm and disrupted the North Woods hitters with solid blocking. At the middle mark in the set, North Woods was able to get a good run of points and quickly turned the tide of the game back in their favor, ultimately winning the set. They kept the lead the entire third set and sealed their win with an ace serve from Tessa Burnett.

The Grizzlies Varsity volleyball team now sits at a season record of 4-0.
