Conservation Officer Report
District 5
CO Troy Fondie (Orr) reports diminished outdoor activities over the week, High school sports starting and vacations on the downturn as the start of school is around the corner. Typical August fishing of hot humid days, increased water temps and generally poor fishing were noted. Little was seen in the bag in checks of anglers over the week. Lakes, forest roads, and access sites were visited. Administrative tasks continue.
CO Sean Cannon (Cook) spent time this week checking anglers and monitoring boating activity. The bite is starting to pick up, with more anglers having luck finding fish willing to bite. Time was also spent monitoring ATV activity, checking area forest roads and trails, responding to calls about nuisance animals and assisting other area law enforcement on calls. CO Cannon also attended the National Night Out event in Cook this week.
CO Aaron Larson (Tower) spent time checking anglers and working ATV activity. Time was also spent assisting other agencies with emergency type calls. He also checked several locations for wildrice for the upcoming wild rice season.
