It was a very nice week — a little hot, but summer is running out of nice days so we will take all the hot days Mother Nature throws at us.

National Night Out in Crane Lake was a big success. They raised just shy of $6,000, so they will split that between Crane Lake and the Buyck fire departments. Very nice job. Lots of great food was served, the bake sale was a huge success, and the silent auction did very well. They even had a new mini-golf course that just opened up at Voyagaire Lodge & Houseboats for National Night Out, which was free that evening. They are still working on it to improve and add on to it. Then there was live music so the night was complete.

Ian Olson of Orr, who is a Buyck Men’s Golf League golfer, had a hole-in-one on Saturday, Aug. 9. He was playing at Krooked Kreek Golf Club in Osceola, Wis. Ian used his gap wedge on hole 6 for his 117-yard hole-in-one. Congratulations!

Winner this week at the VRT cribbage tournament was Nikki Johnson. Carol Heim had high hand of 24.
