The 8th District Minnesota State Horticultural Society awarded eight scholarships for 2025 this year. Funds for the scholarships were provided by donations from various garden clubs, individuals and memorials. The scholarships were announced at the Spring meeting in May.

Sharon Wildung Memorial Scholarship – Shay Busch, Iron, MN, Mt. Iron/Buhl Secondary School; Grand Rapids Garden Club Scholarship – Martine Redshaw, Hovland, MN, Luther College, Decorah, IA; VernaJean Craig Memorial Scholarship – Isabelle Mecklin, Two Harbors, Two Harbors High School; Eveleth/Fayal Garden Club-DeEtta Berducci Memorial Scholarship – Douglas Erickson, Eveleth, MN, Rock Ridge High School, Virginia, MN; Chisholm/Hibbing Garden Club Scholarship – Finn Eskeli, Nashwauk, MN, Hibbing High School; Cook Garden Club Scholarship – Ava Oswald-Swenson, Duluth, Two Harbors High School; Proctor Garden Club – Jan Bakke Memorial Scholarship – Holly Magariner, Duluth, Denfeld High School; Duluth Garden Flower Club – Dale Hurst Memorial Scholarship – Hannah Willemsen, Duluth, Duluth East High School. Proctor Garden Club – Gerri Benassi Memorial Scholarship – Abigail Schunk Cloquet, College of St. Benedict/St. Joseph, MN.

The 2026 scholarship applications will be available this fall and are due by March 15, 2026.
