Women in Mining event highlights leadership and growth in the industry
Well, we sure got hot last week. Much needed rain really was welcomed this past weekend too. I sure hope this will help out the gardens as they sure are slow this year. We need consistent warm weather and warm nights to help these gardens to kick into high gear and start to grow. There is some stuff doing well, but warm weather sure would help out. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes and onions are really doing great.
Monday morning was a little cool, but then that sun popped out and warmed us up fast. They say tonight it’s supposed to get down in the 40s. That’s a little too cool for the garden. It looks like the rest of the week it should be much better. We will wait and see.
This week is Vacation Bible School at the Crane Lake Chapel, 9-11:30 a.m. It will be Creation Week with lots of activities and crafts, music and games. Next week I’ll have some news about this week’s activities.
Happy Birthday to Nikki Johnson, who had a birthday this past Monday. This past weekend I saw a lot of people visiting the area, including Don and Sherry Schweisthal, Jon and Sandy Bauer, Bart and Tracy McCoy and Steve Pasbrig with Jenny and son Jace. They came to enjoy some time on the lake with their new toy that they pull behind the boat. I guess fun was had by all. The other friends who were here enjoyed some fishing in the hot weather and sun. Some did pretty darn good even as hot as it was.
July 4th is right around the corner. The 3rd of July event in Orr is going on again as usual so you should look at their ads for activities they are hosting and try to come out and enjoy the fun. Myrtle Lake Resort is having their 4th Annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday the 5th of July.
Check out their Facebook page for activities.
The 4th of July in Crane Lake always includes their parade and fireworks. There is lots going on so you should find something to do. Longtime Crane Lake summer resident Bev Pasbrig passed away peacefully at her home in Mesa, Ariz., on May 24, with her husband, Les, daughter Terri and son Steve by her side. She enjoyed 30 great retirement years, loved the area and still holds bragging rights at the Crib Shack with a 27-1/2 inch walleye.
Les now resides at Suncrest Assisted Living in Cloquet. That will be it for this week. If you would like to share any news with me, I really would appreciate it. Keep on smiling till next week. Men’s Golf League News
