We finally got some well-deserved rain. The gardens and the forest sure
appreciated it, but we could use more. I’m glad we got what we got, though.
This weekend my daughter Emiley and (boyfriend) Curran Hanson came to
visit us. They will be here for a few more days. The cooler weather was
a surprise to them. They thought it would be hot or at least warmer, but
they are making the best of it. The bugs sure came out, so that’s what
we got with the rain, but it’s better than having the fire danger. I
have to say it’s so beautiful with how green it’s getting. The rain sure
helped with that. The Canadian fires have made for some beautiful
sunsets the last few days. It’s amazing how that works.
I see Cold Springs company is back up here hauling out big chunks of
granite off the Echo Trail. I have been seeing the trucks go by every
day the last few weeks. It’s amazing if you go out there and see the
quarry where they cut the rock out with water pressure. You can’t go out
there when they are working, but I heard that people go out after they
leave and are done with what they need for the job they are getting the
granite for.
This Wednesday, Trail’s End is hosting their wine tasting again. If you
haven’t been to one, you should try to sign up for the next ones coming
up on July 9 and Aug. 13. Reservations are required. Sounds like a great
evening out.
This past weekend, Trail’s End hosted a fundraiser for the Broken
Strings Foundation Veterans PTSD and Mental Health Care, plus the Buyck
Fire Department and Crane Lake Fire Department. They had a great turnout
and support. I haven’t heard how much they raised, but I’m sure they did
very well. That evening they had live music by Scott Kirkhart &
Acoustic. The music was great.
This week’s cribbage winner at the VRT was Don Heim. If you want
something to do, try playing some cards on Thursday night at the VRT.
That will be it for this week, keep smiling till next week.
