BUYCK AREA NEWS

What a beautiful weekend… not too hot and the bugs are still OK, but they did start to come out a bit. I was planting my flowerpots this weekend and they were out, but they were manageable. But you know they will get worse when we get some rain. But I will take it as long as we can. The bugs are on the low side, which is a bonus for now.

The Herdmans, John and Jennifer, were in Buyck a couple of times. They went fishing on Echo Lake and did very well. I guess you should ask Jennifer… I heard she out fished John. That’s the rumor anyway. Then they came on Sunday and Jordan and his buddy Jack Pliml went golfing on Vermilion River Greens and enjoyed the day on the course.

The Schweisthals were at their cabin over Memorial Weekend, did some fishing and enjoyed some R&R. They went fishing on Saturday morning and the fog was pretty thick. They said it was hard to know where they were. But the fog lifted, and they did well fishing. There were lots of people on the lake over the weekend. It’s nice to see all the tourists in the area.

The Rutars hosted their annual Memorial Weekend BBQ. It was a great day. The bugs were very low, and the food was amazing. Everyone brought a dish to share, and all are such great cooks, and you get a variety. I got to try something new, which was really good and different: Dill pickle salad… if you haven’t tried it, it’s a must-try.

Bob Patrick retired in May. It will be the first time in 54 years that he hasn’t worked. Congratulations and enjoy your retirement.
